The present study was carried out to assess the dissemination of two preventive dental health practices: interdental cleaning and use of fluoride‐containing vehicles. Interviews were held with a representative sample of the adult population in Norway. Sixty per cent of the respondents reported having used some vehicle containing fluoride during the week prior to the interview. Nearly all of these had used a fluoridated dentifrice. Thirty‐five per cent of the respondents stated that they had received instruction on how to use vehicles for interdental cleaning. Age and dental treatment pattern seemed to affect the responses.
