Periodontal defects were created in all four quadrants of six monkeys. The areas were filled with biodegradable tricalcium phosphate ceramic. Specimens were examined historically from 1 to 9 weeks after placement of the material. The results indicate that the ceramic is well tolerated by the tissues and that lost periodontium is regenerated. Also, the used ceramic may be a stimulator of bone formation.
