– Ecological correlates of suicide were explored for the counties of Hungary and the states of the United States. Only one common correlate was identified (divorce rates). The remaining social indicators that were associated with suicide rates in the United States were not associated with suicide rates in Hungary. The importance of replicating ecological studies in several countries was noted.
