In 1955 Ole J. Rafaelsen performed an analysis of the admissions of elderly patients to the Aarhus Psychiatric Hospital during the preceding decade. On the basis of nation‐wide statistics the changing rǒle since then of the elderly in the Danish psychiatric hospital system is described.
