A connection between a high level of plasma cortisol and psychopathology has long been observed. In depressive pateints increased plasma cortisol and non‐suppression to the dexamethasone suppression test (DST) has often been described. In this study it was found that endogenously depressed patients more often than non‐endogenously depressed patients showed abnormal results to the DST. No difference was found in Δ MAX TSH between suppressors and non‐suppressors to the DST.
