— The psychopathological pattern of depression was assessed by means of the Puzynski Inventory Scale for Depression (ISD) in 79 patients with bipolar affective disorders, 45 with unipolar and 42 with undifferentiated type of affective disorders. Four groups of patients showing different psychopathological patterns were distinguished. In Group 1 the pattern was most similar to that of simple depression, in Group 2 to delusional depression, in Group 3 to retarded depression, and in Group 4 to anxiety depression. In the first three groups there was a preponderance of patients with bipolar affective disorder, while in Group 4 unipolar depression was diagnosed in more than half.
