In a material of 285 patients with spinal disc-pi.olapae the disc-prolapse was situated in the cervical region in 5 cases, i.e. less than 3 70: I n three cases froiri the 6th cervical interrertebml disc, in one case froni t h e 5th, aud in o w case from the 4th cervical intervertebral disc. In previons reports the number of siniilar cases is coi’l’espondingly low; before 1941 only 40-50 cases of cervical discprolapse were reported (Stookey (1, 8) ; EZsberg (2) ; M i d e l ’ & Untr (3) ; Puct & Eclrols (4) ; Miater RAyo. (5) ; Hawk (6) ; Love & Wulsh (7, 9) ; Stone, Avieff, Kaplan & Brown (10)). The diagnosis of a cervical disc-prolapse is frequently difficult on account of the absence of characteristic symptoms. The term “baachialgia”, for instance, may be covering an unknown number of cervical disc-prolapses. The symptoms of this lesion ought to be reported in as many cases as possible, and for this reason oiir fiye cases are added to those previously published.
