The authors report the main intra‐operational problems and difficulties they have found with deep sclerectomy, a new surgical procedure for glaucoma. The early post‐operational complications and the short‐term results are also reported. Deep sclerectomy appears to be a safe and effective procedure in various types of glaucoma patients, but randomized prospective long‐term studies are needed to declare that classical trabeculectomy is out‐moded.
