Precipitation of myelin basic protein by sera from MS patients and controls was studied. The experiments with whole sera revealed a higher frequency of the positive gel‐precipitation among MS (32.5%) than among controls (11.5%). β‐lipoproteins isolated from all MS and control sera were demonstrated to link to myelin basic protein giving rise to a single precipitation line in the immunoelectrophoretic system. The lipoprotein pattern of MS sera was quantitatively and qualitatively identical to that of control sera. The results suggest the occurrence of a precipitation blocking factor in the entire sera.
