The effect of L‐DOPA and L‐tryptophan on the cerebral blood flow was studied in anaesthetized dogs injected intravenously with one or other of the drugs. Cerebral blood flow was measured with the radio‐active gas elimination technique with external γ‐registration. After L‐DOPA there were signs of an increase of the cerebral blood flow followed later by a decrease. The effect of L‐tryptophan on the cerebral blood flow in all experiments was a decrease.
