In a series of patients with Bell's palsy, the frequency of impaired glucose tolerance was found to be 6 %, which contrasts with the much higher frequency previously reported elsewhere. This suggests that diabetes mcllitus is not a common aetiological factor in the development of Bell's palsy in this country.
