Acarological investigations of mattress dust and house floor dust of three cottages (two new and one old) at a center for asthmatic children showed that one season is not enough for a complete colonisation of mattresses with Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus. Covering of the mattresses with a plastic sheet was successful in preventing the colonisation of the mattresses in the experimental period. The floors of the new cottages became infested only after the houses were occupied by the human inhabitants. Résumé COLONISATION DES PLANCHERS ET DES MATELAS PAR L'ACARIEN DERMATOPHAGOIDES PTERONYSSINUS DANS UN CENTRE POUR ENFANTS ASTHMATIQUES, ET MOYENS PRÉVENTIFS Des études acarologiques de la poussière de matelas et de celle des planchers de trois chalets (dont deux récents) d'un centre pour enfants asthmatiques, démontrent qu'une saison n'est pas süffisante pour qu'une population notable de Dermatophagoides pteronyssinus puisse s'installer. Durant la période expérimentale, nous avons constaTÉ que les matelas recouverts d'une enveloppe de plastique sont proTÉgés efficacement de l'infestation par les acariens. Quant aux planchers des chalets ils ne sont devenus receleurs de ces acariens qu'après avoir éTÉ habiTÉs par l'homme.
