The need for information about household tools and equipment in the home dates back to the beginning of civilization and continues today. In response to an increased demand for home equipment information around the beginning of the 20th century, formal education on the topic began to grow, and manufacturers and utility companies contributed to consumers’ education on home equipment. From this growing interest, a professional association developed to bring together professionals in the field. The Association of Home Equipment Educators, in collaboration with government agencies, private organizations, trade associations, and equipment manufacturers, has had a significant impact on research and education in the field of home equipment.
