Annealing of a sintered pellet of Pb 0.9175 La 0.055 Zr 0.975 Ti 0.025 O 3 in air without any precautions against PbO evaporation results in a core–shell microstructure with a solid PLZT core and a porous ZrO 2 ‐rich shell.
