The dispersed, regular twinned rutile titania (TiO 2 ) has been firstly generated by the hydrothermal treatment of potassium hexatitanate whiskers in 1 M HCl solution by rearranging structural units. It has been proved that the original structures of starting materials have a tremendous influence on the nucleation process, the crystal growth, and the morphology during the hydrothermal process.
