A straightforward derivation of the heat‐flow equation for a prolate spheroid is given. In its simplest form the expression is thermal conductivity equals body factor (determined for the prolate spheroidal vessel) times power divided by temperature drop. The geometry of the prolate spheroid is reflected in a detailed expression for the body factor.
