The reactivity of a monoclonal antibody against actin of Amoeba proteus with actins from other sources was examined. The monoclonal antibody cross‐reacted with actins from vertebrate muscles, human erythrocytes, and Acanthamoeba castellanii , but it did not react with Naegleria gruberi actin. The amoeba actin was resolved into 3 bands with isoeletric points of 5.96, 6.03 and 6.10 in electrofocusing gels and they corresponded to 3 peptide spots reacting with the antibody on 2‐dimensional immunoblots.
