A previously reported microsporidium in Penaeus merguiensis de Man, 1888 (Decapoda, Penaeidae), in the Philippines has been identified as a species of Agmasoma Hazard & Oldacre, 1975, and named Agmasoma aquinoae n. sp. (Microsporida, Thelohaniidae).
