SYNOPSIS. Trophozoites and what appear to be early spore forms of a parasitic protozoan present in the spinal cord of the lungfish Polypterus enlicheri are described. They are probably intra‐ and extracellular invaders into the anterior horn and are frequently located near capillaries. They provoke a glial response. The organisms have some myxosporidan features (7) and are tentatively classified as cnidosporidans.
