SYNOPSIS. Previous workers have described in detail the distribution of membrane resistance and of sensitivity to electric stimuli on the 2 surfaces of some species of Opalina. These patterns can be very nearly duplicated by the field of potential generated between 2 poles placed along the falx and antifalx of an enlarged model and measured by a Servomex field plotter. Two alternative suggestions for the actual physical basis of the field are put forward.
