SYNOPSIS. The type specimen of Entamoeba serpentis Cunha and Fonseca, 1917 was studied. Description of the cysts of this species, hitherto unreported, shows that this species resembles the “histolytica” type, producing 4‐nucleate mature cysts; their measurements fall within the size range occupied in part by E. invadens.
