SYNOPSIS. Some neutral carbonyl compounds synthesized by Cryptomonas, ovata var. palustris were identified as methanal, ethanal, 2‐propanone, pentanal, and heptanal by means of thin‐layer chromatography, gas chromatography and infrared spectroscopy.
