SYNOPSIS. Anuran bile pigments when concentrated in the large intestine at elevated pH levels, may diffuse into the cytoplasm of opalinids, there be reduced to stercobilin and crystallized. Stercobilin crystals persisted unchanged in Zelleriella cultured in vitro for 14 days. No apparent interference with the normal activities of the protozoa was observed.
