Nursing research has emphasized the study of older adults residing in nursing homes. But acute care and home care settings are also part of long‐term health care of older adults, with common clinical concerns across settings. Issues for long‐term care and nursing research are presented, followed by the description of a study that has potential for bridging the gap between acute and long‐term care of older adults.
