We describe a case of persistent atrial standstill (PAS) in the absence of other cardiac or extracardiac abnormalities. Long‐term (13‐year) follow‐up of this case suggests that the prognosis of isolated PAS, following institution of permanent pacing, may be benign. A.N.E. 1999;4(3):372–373
