Hereditary breast and ovarian cancer syndrome is an inherited condition that women's health care providers are likely to encounter in their practices. Persons affected by this disorder have extremely high risks for developing cancer. This article provides a definition and overview of the syndrome, including cancer prevention/risk reduction strategies and resources available for patients and providers.
