The object of this paper is to determine, using mathematical methods for decision‐making, whether sex education is an appropriate policy instrument to reduce teenage pregnancies. The exercise helps to clarify the issues involved and the data needed to reach conclusions based on fact, and suggests some preliminary recommendations.
