A 24‐year‐old man referred to our department for echocardiographic examination after a 2/6 precordial holosystolic murmur is being heard on routine physical examination. Transthoracic echocardiography in the parasternal long‐and short‐axis and apical views demonstrated an abnormally long chorda tendinea in the left ventricle and the chordal insertions of both of the mitral valve leafl ets were to a single large papillary muscle, creating a parachute valve. Doppler assessment yielded neither signifi cant mitral stenosis nor left ventricular out flow tract obstruction. Finally, no medical or surgical therapy was planned and an annual control examination with an echocardiography was recommended to the patient.
