In spite of technological advances, the incidence of inappropriate therapies continues being high. Usually, the most direct consequence of inappropriate shocks is impairment on quality of life parameters, but in some cases the consequences may be unpredictable. We report on a case of renal artery thrombosis, following an inappropriate implantable cardioverter defibrillator shock. (PACE 2012; 35:e263–e264)
