Author's summary.— Report on an extensive phonetic research and detailed analysis, made by an undergraduate, comparing in her own pronunciation the lengths of English and French vowel approximations as determined by surrounding consonantal elements. Calibrated tracings proved English vowels longer than their corresponding French equivalents, due to interior qualities and composition.
