Author's Summary— Because of the limited amount of time at the disposal of the average teacher in the classroom, collateral reading bearing on the life, literature, and customs of Spanish‐speaking countries is largely not given the care that it should have. A careful program of collateral reading can be used to give the students knowledge of and interest in things Spanish, without interfering with the classroom work.
