An experimental model was used in two cities in Connecticut to bring about improved police‐community relations. Participants in the program were 300 police officers up through the grade of captain and 150 civilians representing militant, conservative, and community organizations. Questionnaires given to the police before and after the six‐week program indicated dramatic favorable change in the policeman's attitudes toward himself, youth, and Puerto Ricans. However, attitudes toward blacks did not improve and in some cases regressed.
