Two episodes of immune hemolysis occurring following the administration of tetracycline‐HCI are reported. The patient was found to be symptom‐free and to have normal hematologic studies during drug‐free intervals. The antigenic specificity of the drug‐red blood cell complex was proven by conventional AGT results, as well as the more sensitive Polybrene technique. An in vitro technique for conjugation of tetracycline with human red blood cells is described which provides cells suitable for use for the detection of this unusual antibody.
