The significance of albumin control tests in Rh phenotyping of patients with positive direct antiglobulin tests has been evaluated. Anti‐Rh sera from five commercial manufacturers were employed in testing and albumin control tests with 22 per cent and 30 per cent albumin run in parallel. Correct Rh typings were determined by the use of saline active anti‐Rh reagents. In some instances false positive Rh typings were obtained, but were recognized as such because the albumin control test was positive. However, some false positive Rh typings were obtained even though both the 22 per cent and 30 per cent albumin control tests were negative.
