Forty‐one lots of commercial anti‐A and anti‐B typing sera and 34 lots of antiglobulin sera, obtained from nine different manufacturers, were compared for potency in quantitative hemagglutination studies employing an electronic particle counter. Marked differences in antiserum reactivity were found, particularly in the ability of various antiglobulin sera to detect bound complement components. Quality control programs in the hospital blood bank should include routine testing of both typing and antiglobulin sera with weakly reactive red blood cell suspensions.
