A method for preparing leukocyte‐poor blood from packed red cells that have been stored in ACD for ten days is described. The addition of heparin and CaCl 2 to buffy coat poor‐packed cells followed by nylon fiber filtration removes approximately 97 per cent of the leukocytes when compared with whole blood. Fresh plasma and platelets are useful by‐products of this procedure.
