Eight of ten heroin addicts demonstrated abnormalities of platelet aggregability. Abnormalities were seen with ADP, epinephrine, collagen and, in particular, thrombin. The bleeding time was prolonged in three of these eight addicts. The acetyl moiety of heroin, 6‐monoacetylmorphine, may be responsible for these abnormalities.
