The red cells of the second Rh null LW negative female were found to be U negative although s positive. The titration score with anti‐s was significantly less than the scores with the red cells of her parents who are presumed to be ss homozygotes. The patient's cells are strongly agglutinated by both anti‐I and anti‐i and this may represent the marrow stress phenomenon since she has a partially compensated hemolytic anemia. Since the Rh abnormalities are present in other members of the family, the entire picture may be one of a complex heritable structural abnormality of the red cell.
