Fibrinolysis‐fibrinogenolysis releases into the circulation considerable amounts of degraded products. At least some of the digested products retain the original immunological specificity of the fibrinogen molecule, flocculating in the presence of a rabbit anti‐human fibrin serum. Fibrin‐fibrinogen degraded products in the circulation depress the coagulation mechanism.
