The quantitative hemagglutination technic has been used to demonstrate quantitative and qualitative differences between fetal and adult ABH antigens. Fetal antigens are, on the average, less reactive than comparable adult antigens and show significant alterations in antigenic specificity. Fetal A 1 could not be definitely distinguished from fetal A 2 . Qualitative variations were observed among fetal and adult H antigens detected with extracts of the seeds of Ulex europeus. In general the quantitative reciprocity of A and H observed with adult erythrocytes is equally applicable to fetal bloods.
