A white individual of European origin has been found whose erythrocytes, though they are diagnosed as M by a variety of absorbed rabbit sera, give a strong reaction with apparently N‐specific Bauhinia lectin. For reasons given in the text, the authors feel that this is probably not due to the presence in the erythrocytes of the individual in question of a variant of the N antigen, but of another antigen not closely related to N. The anti‐N of Vicia graminea does not agglutinate the cells of this individual.
