The paper gives the results of inhibition studies on 14 “nonspecific” lectins with simple sugars and human salivas. Five seed extracts were found to show anti‐H specificity in the sense that they were inhibited by the saliva of secretor and not by saliva of nonsecretors. These anti‐H extracts were inhibited weakly or not at all with L‐fucose and salicin and thus differed from the anti‐H lectins already known. Extracts of Vicia faba and Vicia ervilia , after inhibition with certain sugars, behaved like anti‐AB but were inhibited by salivas irrespective of the secretor status of the donor.
