An 11‐day‐old Thoroughbred colt was presented because of acute colic and a swollen right carpus. Exploration of the abdomen revealed peritonitis secondary to a perforated gastric ulcer. The ulcer was repaired, and the peritoneal cavity was lavaged. The foal recovered from the perforated ulcer but was euthanized one and a half months later because of progressive septic arthritis.
