This tentative look into the future for the elderly covers such aspects as population statistics, the unique role of Medicine in contributing to the quality of life, the problems engendered by dementia patients and the “staff factor” involved in their care. The development of personality in the aged is stressed. Being attractive to others in the time of disability and old age is a valuable asset. There is great need for education of the public about the elderly.
