Two Conferences on Geriatric Education have been conducted by the American Geriatrics Society with contractual support from the National Institute on Aging. At the first Conference, an Advisory Committee defined various models and strategies of geriatric education, which were then presented to representatives of major physician organizations at the second Conference. The Final Recommendations which emerged from the meeting of March 4–5, 1977 threw additional light on this important subject. The Conferences represent the first major attempt at clarifying alternative models and strategies in relation to geriatric education. The American Geriatrics Society intends, through its future conferences, publications, and liaison relationships with other organizations, to continue to move forward, finding solutions which will improve education related to geriatrics, and thus improve the health care of the senior citizens of this nation. (A Summary of the Final Recommendations appears in the current Journal “Contents.”)
