A 49‐year‐old man was treated for impotence with human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) alone and then with hCG and testosterone simultaneously. HCG suppressed follicle‐stimulating hormone (FSH) in the serum, testosterone alone also suppressed FSH, but the combined medication increased FSH. The successful treatment of impotence with exogenous testosterone may require the maintenance of higher‐than‐normal levels of serum testosterone, and therefore dosages higher than those used conventionally.
