The Community Health Service works to organize resources and deliver health services through coordinated federal, state and local programming. Several nursing home programs are listed. The role of medical director of long‐term care facilities is discussed, particularly with reference to AMA seminars on the subject. The federal government has an increasing responsibility for assuring quality in long‐term medical care.
