Remotivation therapy is widely used in U. S. mental hospitals and is supposed to be particularly useful in the treatment of the chronically ill. Ward aides are used as therapists. A controlled trial of remotivation therapy versus conventional group therapy in thirty‐nine ambulant geriatric in‐patients is described. The outcome, as measured by the Palo Alto Scale and the Remotivation Technique, showed some advantage for remotivation therapy, but the difference was not statistically significant.
