Helminthic parasites and seizures

Taenia solium (the pork tapeworm) is perhaps most widely prevalent and well known for its association with seizures and epilepsy. Many of the other helminthic disorders have fairly restricted geographic predilections and their occurrence in much of the remaining world is limited to rare cases among travelers and immigrants. Nonetheless, knowledge about the helminthic disorders, the life cycle of their causative agents, and their clinical manifestations and diagnostic features are important in order to recognize them.
