Summary: MRI is the technique of choice in the evaluation of patients suffering from epilepsy. Due to its high contrast resolution and its possibility of multiplanar imaging small epileptogenic lesions can be visualized using appropriate parameter sequences. MRI characteristics and imaging sequences in nine pathologic entities are discussed.
